WOMEN’S DIVISION.

PUKEATUA BRANCH. On Tuesday afternoon the monthly meeting of the Pukeatua Branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union was held In the social room of the local hall. Mrs Fletcher, president, occupied the chair. Mrs Crook expressed the pleasure all felt at having Mrs Fletcher back and able to take up her work among them again. In returning thanks Mrs Fletcher thanked all who had so loyally carried on the work during her indisposition and complimented all who had so successfully carried out the different duties connected with the birthday party. Members accorded Mrs Anderson a very hearty vote of thanks for making the beautiful bouquet presented to Mrs Ryburn at the birthday party. It was resolved to send a letter to Mrs J. Bethune, wishing her a speedy recovery from her illness. During the afternoon the Waitemata housekeeping scheme was favourably considered. An interesting paper on diet and its relation to health was read by the president and an animated discussion ensued. The roll call for the afternoon, “Quotations from Tennyson,” was varied and made a pleasing interlude. Mesdames Perrott and Patterson tied for first place in a word jumble competition the former Avinnlng in the draw. The prize for plain scones went to Mrs H. 'Heddon. Mrs Fletcher won the prize made by Mrs Grierson for the Avandering shilling competition. The social programme was arranged by Mesdames Graff, Grierson and Ferguson, and afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Solomon, McKee and Crook.
