Speaking at a luncheon tendered by the Commonwealth Government to the New Zealand Minister of Publio Works, Mr. R. Semple, the actingPrime Minister, Dr. Earle Page, said that within a comparatively few months flying-boats would bring Sydney closer by air to Auckland than Canberra is to Sydney. He would live to see closer collaboration between the Australian and New Zealand Governments in order to escape from the traditional idea that the only place where Australian aud New Zealand delegations might meet for full dress discussions was London. Mr. Semple, in acknowledging his welcome, said the New Zealand Government was ready to meet representatives of the Commonwealth to discuss trade difficulties. He said th® artificial barriers against satisfactory trade between the two Dominion® should be broken down.
