DEFENCE AIRPORTS.
NEW PLYMOUTH NOT A SITE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, says the Government has no intention of using New Plymouth’s airport nor has it considered such an idea. The airport is the property of the Borough Council. He says It Is true, however, that steps are in progress for the acquisition of a suitable area at Ohakea, between Palmerston North and Wanganui, for a defence airport.
