DISTRICT SALES. OTOROHANQA VALUEB. PRICES REMAIN FIRM. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agenoy Company, Ltd., Hamilton, report as follows on their stock sale held at Otorohanga yesterday: — A full entry of cattle comprised a few’ medium to good quality cows, a majority In the store seotion of boners and unfinished cows, several pens of young stock and a heavy entry of dairies, Including the advertised herd on aocount of Mr William Irvine. Fat and store cows maintained prioe levels ruling at other centres and for yearling heifers and a pen of 18 months’ steers bidding was brisk. On thfe whole the quality of the dairies was only mediocre and a good proportion were late as well. Considering this, the prices obtained were satisfactory. Any young cows due early drew good competition. Medium fat Jersey oows made £4 5s to £5 7s 6d; unfinished, £3 12s 6d to £4 2s 6d; heavy boners, £2 15s to £3 12s 6d; others up to £2 10s; yearling heifers, £3 14s to £8 17s; pen of 18 months Shorthorn store steers, £5 2s 6d; medium Jersey dairy cows, £7 10s to £8 15s; plain quality and late calvers, £6 to £7 ss; inferior sorts up to £5 15s. A fair entry of sheep oame forward. It included mixed aged breeding ewes, store wethers, with most being fat and forward lambs. The demand was good and prices were satisfactory. A pen of 108 mixed age ewes made 30s; pen of store wethers, 295; extra prime fat lambs, 25s to 365; medium fat lambs, 245; store lambs, 15s to 18s. RATEB AT MATAMATA. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their fortnightly sale a,t Matamata saleyards when a small yarding of sheep and a medium yarding of cattle came forward. Fat wethers made £1 12s to £1 14s; medium fat lambs, £1 4s 3d; light conditioned, £1 Is 6d; good shorn store, 17s; smaller, 12s 2d. Heavy prime Shorthorn cows made £6 17s 6d to £7 17s; heavy prime Shorthorn heifers, £6 19s; medium Shorthorn cows, £5 12s 6d to £5 16s; heavy Jersey cows, £5 17s 6d to £6 19s; lighter, £5 to £5 12s 6d; medium Jersey heifers, £4 to £4 3s; lighter, £3 12s to £3 17s 6d; heavy boner oows, £’3 5s to £3 16s; others, £2 7s 6d to £3 Is; potter bulls, £5 to £'s 15s; medium quality yearling Jersey heifers, £3 7s 6d; small, £2 7s 6d. A medium yarding of dairies was penned, comprising nearly all heifers. All good quality heifers met with keen competition. Choice quality heifers made £9 to £10; good quality forward heifers, £8 to £9; small but ohoice quality, £‘7 to £8; medium quality, £6 to £7; small and backward sorts, £5 to £6. A medium yarding of fat pigs (chiefly buttermilk pigs), came forward while a full yarding of stores was penned. Buttermilk pigs met with keen competition and prioes realised were on a par with this week’s Frankton quotations. Store pigs and weaners were slightly below vendors’ expectations, although prices were practically on a par with late rates. Heavy buttermilk pigs made £2 10s to £2 14s; medium, £2 to £2 10s; large store pigs, 32s to 355; medium, £2B to 325; small, 20s to 265; medium porkers, 32s to 38s; small, 25s to 325; best slips, 22s to 25s 6d; medium, ISs to 225; best weaners, IDs to 18s; medium, 12s to 15s; small, 8s to 12s.

MORRINSVILLE HORSE FAIR. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report having held their Morrinsville horse fair yesterday, when an entry of approximately 80 horses came forward. A keen demand existed for all useful farm horses. Three rising three-year-old horses on account of a client made e:t'6, £3's 10s and £34 respectively. Draughts: On account of Mr. J. T. Beck, Okoroire, 8-year-old mare with I rial, £4 9 10s; on account Mr. F. J. McVerry, Kiwitahi, 4-year marc with chain trial, £49; on account Mr. F. H.
