LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. The following local observations on the weather are supplied by Miss Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, Limited, Hamilton: Barometer. The barometer reads 3U.00 with a rising tendency, indications are for improved weather conditions to-day with lower temperature and southerly winds prevailing. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .09in. Rainfall for previous 24 hours, .06in. Rainfall for July to date, l.OSin. Average rainfall for July, 4.83in. Rainfall for year to date, 25.06in. Average yearly rainfall, 46.32in. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WaikutoThames Valley is ns follows: Forecast: Moderate to strong south-westerly winds gradually decreasing. Weather cold and changeable, with ■scattered shows, but improving to-morrow. Seas moderate. General inference: The shallow depression which covered the North Island yesterday has moved away eastwards. A secondary depression has, however, been crossing the South Island during the night, and at 9 a.m. the line of the lowest pressure lay through Cook Strait. An intense anticyclone still covers Eastern Australia and the Tasman Sea and barometers may be expected to rise over the Dominion.
