EXPORTS OF MEAT.
INCREASE OF THREE PER CENT. RETURNS FOR NINE MONTHS. (ny Telegrapn.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The current meat exporting season is drawing to a close. Shipments from New Zealand for the nine months of the season to June 30 show an increase of about 3 per cent, on the corresponding period in the 1935-36 season. Only two classes of frozen meat show a decline, mutton and frozen beef, according to returns just issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board. Mutton shipments dropped from 1,325,442 carcases to 1,098,476 carcases, while exports of frozen beef were 97,418 quarters, compared with. 14 8,228 quarters in the same period of tiie previous season. Lamb shipments have risen from 6,474,892 carcases in the previous season to 6,730.208 carcases. Chilled eef exports at 142,745 quarters compare with 112,109 quarters, while figures for boneless beef were 158.374 bags, as against 153,821 bags. A total of 4 82.925 carcases of pork was shipped, against. 464,550 carcases.
