MAN’S BTRANGE OLAIM. SAYS HE IS HEIR HUSBAND. NEW YORK, May 25. Mae West, elegantly dressed in blue pyjamas and a white hat, strolled Into the' offloe of Mr A. M. Blount, a Los Angeles lawyer, and refused to answer questions for a deposition as to her alleged marriage with Frank Wallace. A suit is pending in the Superior Court in which Wallace claims that he married the famous star in 1911. When asked her name she consented to reply, with emphasis, " Miss Mae West.” Her lawyer, Mr Loyd Wright, claims that the Superior Court has no Jurisdiction over the case, and says he has information that Wallace once swore he was never married to Miss West. The New York court dismissed a similar suit on grounds of no Jurisdiction. Mr Blount later made thef statement that he was filing an affidavit to-morrow asking the film star to force her to answer his questions. Wallace claims a marriage took place between himself and a Mae West in Milwaukee' in April 1911, when they were both appearing on the music-hall stage there. A marriage certificate bearing the names, “Mae West ” and “ Frank Wallace,’ has been found in the Milwaukee records, but to this Miss Mae West has said that she no copyright in the name. She said last week: “ I hav* never met and I have never aeen Wallace. .1 have never been married, but I have been In love lot 9 of times.”
