AT MATANGI.
The “monthly meeting of the Matangi Women’s Institute was held in the Matangi Hall on Thursday, Mrs McKerrow presiding over a large attendance of members. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent. Mrs Whewell suitably replied. Mrs Dawson, who is leaving the district, was also presented with a bouquet, with the good wishes of all the members. A humorous reading by Mrs McKei*row and elocutionary items by Miss L. Ringer, were much enjoyed. A “Telegram” competition was won by Mrs A. Ramsay. The sales table in the capable hands of Mrs W. McClennan, did brisk business. The competitions for the day were judged by the visitors. “A decorative vase of flowers” was won by Mrs Banks, with Mrs H. Thompson second, and “A plate of pikelets” won by Mrs H. Thompson, with Miss D. Boyd second, and Mrs Wainwright third.
