ITEMS FROM HOLLYWOOD.

Francis Lederer is to have the leading role in “Cape of Good Hope.” Edward Arnold, son of the screen celebrity, has been signed to feature in "Burning Barriers.” Joan Carol, 1 four-year-old, has been selected for a featured role in “One Mile from Heaven.” adapted from a real-life drama in the courtroom of Judge Ben R. Lindsay, famous for his Juvenile court reforms. “Sing and be Happy” is the final release title for a musical in preparation under “Everybody Sing.” The cast includes Tony Martin, Leah Ray, Dixie Dunbar and Helen Westley. Jean Harlow is to be co starred with Clark Gable in “Saratoga.” Grant Mitchell is to play Clemenceau, and Gale Sondergnard Madame Dreyfus, in “ Story of Emile Zola.” Lionel Barrymore is to play the lama role in “Kim.” M'tzi Green lias been signed for a starring role in "Love Below Freezing." • • * • Charles Boyer has been signed by Walter Wanger to star-producer contrast, under the terms of which he Joins the ranks of the production executives. Ills first, production will probably be his own story, "The Man With Twelve Models,” in which he will lake the role of "The Man.” Tim Holt, son of Jack Holt, has (been added to Ihe cast of "Stella Dallas.” He will take the role played by Douglas Fairbanks, Jun., in the 1925 version. Moore’s qext vehicle will be “Sound of Your Voice,” written specially for tiie star by Stephen Moorhouse Avery. Douglas Fairbanks has withdrawn from his co-producing arrangement wi:h Samuel Goidwyn to make "Adventures of Marco Polo,” starring Gary Cooper, in order to devote his

time entirely to individual production of his own. Max Reinhardt is to direct Bette Davis in "The Gambler,” based on Doistoicsky’s story. Louis Roreil, who appeared in the Jessie Matthews film. “Head Over Heels,” will make his Hollywood debut in “The Emperor's Candlesticks.” “Love Derby,” after being changed to “He Wouldn’t Get Married." has now been renamed "A Gentleman After Midnight.”
