A FRANK BISHOP
EVILS OF DICTATORSHIP.
BANKRUPTCY, REVOLUTION, WAR. CHILDREN AS CANNON-FODDER. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright (Received May 29, 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, May 28. A scarcely-veiled reference to Herr Hitler was made by the Bishop of Birmingham, when speaking in London. He said: ‘‘Recent continental history shows how even a public-house politician and a dosshouse dreamer can get a clientele which swells dangerously in times of publio emotion and disorder. When a dictator has as many followers as he can pay he can create armies and munitions actually on the rakes of progress. This must end in bankruptcy, revolution, or possibly a successful war. If there is a chance of war averting his downfall a dictator plunges.” Pathetio Attempts. Referring to Italy, the Bishop added: "Signor Mussolini’s attempts to force up the birth-rate are pathetic. Quality, not quantity, is important. I was recently in Palermo, which is a huge slum. “Peope who think feel Increasingly reluctant to breed children for cannon-fodder.”
