Messrs O. N. Gillespie and Leslie Hinge, of Wellington, are visiting Hamilton.

Mr A. M. Marcus, the well-known Amerioan theatrical producer, is at the Hamilton Hotel.

Sir Harry Lauder will sail from Auckland for the United States by the Monterey this evening.

At a meeting of the executive of the Wanganui Agricultural Association Mr J. P. Wells was appointed secretary in succession to Mr Kenneth Armstrong.

Mr W. G. Adams, who has retired from the position of manager of the Ngaruawahia branch of the Bank of New Zealand, is leaving to-day by the Monterey for the United States.

Messrs J. Rauch (Auckland), P. Wallis (Gisborne) and H. E. Farr (Wellington), are at the Hamilton Hotel.

The retiring members of the executive of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers' Association, whose annual meeting will be held on May 12, arc Messrs W. Hollis, A. Mebarry, L. Cubis and J. Dempster.

At Wellington prison the staff met tc bid farewell to Superintendent John Down, who is retiring after 40 years' service with the department. Presentations were made. Mr Down’s successor ie Mr W. E. Stewart, chief warder of the prison.

On the oocasion of his approaching marriage, Mr D. V. Llddy was presented with several gifts by the staff of the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, of which he has been a member for the past 13 years. Mr W. D. Shaw, who made the presentation, referred to the high esteem iq which Mr Llddy was held.
