LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. The following looal observations on the weather are supplied by Miss Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, Limited, Hamilton: Barometer. Monday 29.70 Thermometer. Max. Min. Sunday 66 53 Mean Temperature, 59.5 deg. The barometer reads 29.70 and has very little movement. A continuance of stormy weather is indicated to-day and to-morrow, wi/th heavy rain, north-west vtinds prevailing and lower temperature. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 48 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, 1.20in. Rainfall for previous 24 hours, .401 n. Rainfall for May to date. 1.60in. Average n.lnfall for May, 4.63in. Rainfall for year to date, 15.21in. Average yearly rainfall, 46.32in. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WaikutoThsmes Valley is as follows: Forecast: Moderate to strong south-westerly winds, reaching gale force in places. Weather cold and changeable, with passing showers and in places hail and snow on mountains. Seas rather rough. General Inference: A deep depression crossed the Dominion last night and is being followed by a secondary which is now approaching the southern portion of the South Island.
