CANNOT BE BROUGHT TO SCREEN. “ JEEVES ” SERIES ABANDONED. Hollywood cannot do justice to the work of P. G. Wodehouse, says Darryl Danuck after having had a souple of shots himself. The quality of Wodehouse’s whimsy relies so much more on suggestion than incident, and this makes him an elusive film quantity,” added Mr Danuck, who discontinued the rumoured proposal of an unlimited series -of Wodehouse stories 'introducing Jeeves. Before reaching this conclusion Mr Danuck was at first inclined to blame' the adaptation or direction for the lack of success with “Thank you, Jeeves,” which was to have been the first of a series.
'On this bone of contention the English director Collins —successful with numerous other films—severed his contract with Twentieth Century-Fox.
