SUCCESSFUL MEETING

WAIKATO FIXTURE. FAVOURITES FARE BADLY. *TE RAPA STABLES TO THE FORE. RESPECTFUL’S SURPRISE WIN. Favoured with ideal weather the Waikato Racing Club, yesterday, concluded its most successful Summer llxture at Te Rapa, totalisator receipts showing a substantial increase on those of past years. Again there was a large attendance and racing throughout the programme was of a high standard. Favourites fared badly during the day not a single first fancy on the win machine realising expectations. Four winners returned double figures. Respectful was one of these and his success in the principal event, the Vercoe Handicap, was thoroughly merited. Whirling confirmed the good impression he made on opening day when he took sprint honours of the meeting. As on the first day locally-trained horses did well, winning four races on the card.
