SURPRISE PARTY.
EVENING AT WHITIKAHU. A pleasant evening was spent at the new home of Mr and Mrs W. Bennett, Whitikahu, recently, when residents of the district tendered them a house-warming in the form of a surprise party. About 40 guests were [•resent and spent a jolly time with games, cards, items and community singing. Songs were rendered by Mrs O. Coleman and Mrs Clarke (Taupiri), the accompaniments being played by Mrs Amon. Community singing led by Mr Chrystal (lluntly), with Mr§ Bennett at" the piano, was much enjoyed. Competitions were won by Miss Elva Amon and Mr W. Bennett, j After a dainty supper, provided by | the ladies, Mr Coleman wished Mr and Mrs Bennett happiness in their new home. Mr Bennett suitably replied. The singing of Auld Lang Syne concluded a merry evening. Among those present were:—Mesdames Amon, Clarke, Coleman, W. Law, Nicholson, B. Law, Dean, Clarke (Taupiri), Scott, Neverman, Best. Misses Amon (3), Gwenda Boyce, Norma Best, Verna Best, Margaret Clarke, Betty Scott, Colleen Dean.
