THE HARDLEY SHIELD. AUCKLAND SUCCESSFUL. CLUB GAME RESULTS. One of the finest day’s bowling this season was enjoyed on Saturday when the chief attraction was the contest for the Hardley Shield between the Auckland and South Auckland Centres. The trophy was won by the challengers, Auckland, by eight games to six, txvo games being drawn. The shield was presented to the winners by Mr P. H. Rowe,' president of the South Auckland Bowling Centre, at the conclusion of the day’s play and was accepted on behalf of the visitors by Mr A. E. Whitton, president of the Auckland Centre. Each centre had two rinks and two rounds were played. At the end or the morning’s play each side had three wins, while two games were drawn. CLAUDELANDS TOURNEY. PROGRESSIVE PAIRS. A progressive pairs tournament was held at the Claudelands green on Saturday. The leads and threes tourney was won by Belcher and W. Ghegwidden, senr., with 4$ wins, while in the skips’ and twos’ games a tie resulted between Paterson and Livingstone and Fraser and Thompson. In the play-off Paterson and Livingstone were the winners. GAME AT FRANKTON, WAIKATO CHALLENGE SHIELD.
