A WEEKLY COLUMN. LODGES REPORT ACTIVITIES. Frankton Hibernians. Mr T. F. Wallace presided over a good attendance of members of the St. Columba’s branch, Frankton Hibernians. Three new members were installed, and four persons were proposed for membership. Final arrangements were made for the social evening to be he'ld in the branch room on Tuesday, September 15. At the close of business, a general discussion on policy and general topics ensued. Ngaruawahia Oddfellows. Mr Nicholas presided over the last, meeting of the Loyal Ngaruawahia Lodge when 40 members attended. Three new members were initiated. After business, the 28th anniversary of the founding of the' lodge was celebrated. Numerous toasts were proposed and honoured, Mr J. Rogers entertained the party, while Mr H. M. Thorpe outlined the history of the lodge. A successful evening was brought to a close by the rendering of Auld Lang Syne. Cambridge Oddfellows. Mr W. G. Kelly was chairman at the last meeting of the Loyal Duke of Cambridge Lodge of the Manchester Unity Oddfellows at Cambridge. Two new members were proposed as financial members. The secretary presented the accounts and balance-sheet for the quarter ending August 31, and u satisfactory position was revealed. The statement of accounts was approved. Four visiting members of the order were recommended, and they were accepted and placed on the medical list. A sub-committee was formed to finalise the foundation of a Past Grands’ Lodge in Cambridge and l i P.G.’s signified their intention of joining. A report of the' funeral oration delivered by the Rev. Jasper Calder on the occasion of the interment of the late Mr John Clark, P.M.G. was read to members. The district office reports that as and from July 1 the maternity benefits would be increased to £G, bringing this benefit up to the standard prior to J 931. Star of Waikato Lodge. At a well-attended meeting of the above lodge the R. G. Bro. L. Webster presided. Mr Darro was initiated into the order, and the Degree'Master, Bro. 11. Neas, conferred the* third degree on Bros. Howell, Handler, and Carroll. Nominations for office in the new term were received and prospects look bright. Bro. G. Robertson will have control of the lodge for six months.
