WATERFRONT STRIKE
TROUBLE AT LYTTELTON. OVERSEAS VESSEL IDLE. (By Tcleurraph --Press Assoelallon.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. Waterside workers at Lyttelton refused to start work •on the overseas vessel Hertford to-day because they were not engaged as from 8 o’clock. The weather was squally just before eight and the ship’s agent did not enmeo for 8 o'dock. The weather cleared and the agent decided In engage the men for 8.15. but the men refused to start. It was then derided to start at 9.30, but once more the men refused. The dispute committee met but the men announced that tlmy would not start till to morrow. The vessel is BOW i lie.
