BRYANT HOUSE TRUBTEES. FAREWELL TO SECRETARY. Eulogistlo tributes to the services of Miss Z. Huse during her seven years’ term as secretary to the Bryant House trustees were paid at a gathering of some sixty employees In the Wattle Tea Rooms on Saturday evening. Miss Muse, who has been closely associated with the work of Bryant House in all its activities, recently resigned her position of secretary because of her approaching marriage. Mr D. V. Bryant, who presided, presented the guest of honour with a clock on behalf of the staff, while Dr. H. Douglas, after apologising for the unavoidable absence of Mr C. L. MacDiarmld, presented Miss Huse with a cheque on behalf of the trustees and paid a tribute to her faithful service. Miss Falconer made a presentation to the retiring secretary on behalf of the patients and guests at Bryant House. The work and ideals of Bryant House were briefly referred to by Mr ■Bryant, who appealed to the gathering to join and foster the Thrift Club which was to be inaugurated by arrangement with the Auckland Savings Bank. Mr Bryant then introduced Miss A. Cole, the new secretary, who would be in charge of the Thrift Club. Impressions of Dominion. Mr J. Morgan, the agricultural editor of the Daily Herald, London, who was one of the guests, also spoke. He stated that when he had returned to England he would have the opportunity both through his paper and by broadcasting, to give English people some account of his impressions of the Dominion. He had spent the day on one of the Waikato Land Settlement Society’s settlements, and had been able to grasp something of the spirit of the enterprise. That spirit was recreating In a new country something uplifting in the life of the people. Miss Huse had had the privilege of being associated with the work of their hosts, Mr and Mrs Brvant, who had dedicated their lives to*such enterprises. lie would long treasure the memory of his experience of the Waikato Land Settlement Society because he had been able to discover ita real quality.
