CANTERBURY PARK EVENTS CUDDLE FINIBHEB WELL. CYRILLIAN RUNS SECOND. United Press Assrr.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. SYDNEY, Sept, 6. Billy Boy, who last year was regarded as one of the most promising as a stayer among the two-year-olds, but whose recent, form had been rather unsatisfactory, rehabilitated himself by scoring handsomely in the Guineas at the Canterbury Park races yesterday. He is now entitled to consideration as a contender for the A.J.G. Derby. Custos ran ungenerously throughout and repeatedly tried to get off the course. Cuddle and Arachne gave magnificent performances in the Canterbury Stakes, and, although the latter won, the honours were possibly with Cuddle, who hesitated at the start, and made up several lengths in the comparatively short straight. Arachne jumped out first and led all the way. Stretto, having her first run in Sydney, showed considerable pace. Cyrillian also had her first Sydney race and performed creditably in running second in the Park Stakes. The New Zealand-bred colt Stalin jumped out first from the inside position, Cyrillian being ridden hard from the extreme outside to join him, and the pair fought a great finish. Jn the third division of the Park Stakes a useful three-year-old filly, Matchless, fell and sustained injuries that necessitated her destruction. Her rider, E. C. Harper, broke a collarbone and was carried from the course suffering from concussion. When Matchless fell the jockey T. Wallace was thrown from another horse and was taken to the casualty room suffering from shock. The Sydney rider, A. ft. Ellis, who won the Flying Handicap on Thebez, was suspended for a month for interference with Siren, who was unplaced. Linklet and Royal Helena ran unplaced in the second division of the Parkes States and Kovv Tow was unplaced in the third division. Omarere and Padishah were unplaced in the Flying Handicap, six furlongs. Golden Treasure was second Jn the September Handicap, one mile and three furlongs.

Golden Gate and Distinguished were unplaced in the Ashbury Handicap, nine furlongs. Results:

The Sunday Sun, in commenting on the race for the Canterbury Stakes, says: 44 Hardened racegoers doffed their hats to Cuddle. Half-a-mile from the post she was giving the flying Arachne six lengths, but she unwound a terrific final burst. That great run failed by half-a-neck. As Arachne equalled the course record, the honours of the race were more or less equally divided. Arachne secured the prize and Cuddle the honours for the best performance of the day.” RACING AT CAULFIELD. DEAD-HEAT IN MEMSIE. WIN FOR CONANDALE. United Press Assn.—Kiec. Tel. Copyright. MELBOURNE, Sept. 6. The Memsie Stakes, at Caulfield yesterday. provided a thrilling struggle between diaries Fox and Valiant Chief. It was announced that -Charles Fox would not start in the Epsom Handicap.
