LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. Mias Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, supplies the following local observations on the weather: Barometer, Wednesday ... 30.05 Thursday .... 30.05 Thermometer. Max. Mitt Tuesday 49 44 Wednesday 54 36 Mean Temperature, 45 deg. The barometer reads 30.05 and has very little movement. Indications are for generally fair weather to-day and tomorrow with seasonable temperature, winds variable, later veering to a northerly direction with rain following. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 2 i hours ended 9 o’clock tills morning, .00in. Rnafall for previous 24 hours, .09in. Total rainfall for July to date, 5.02in. Average rainfall for July 4.83in. Halnfall for year to daie. 32.85in. Average yearly rainfall 46 32m. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special iorecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WaikatoThavnes Valiev is as follows: Forecast: Light to moderate south-west to southerly winds. Weather fair to fine and cold. Seas slight to moderate. General Inference: Pres- # sure Is still rather low east of the North Island and in the Cook Straits urea, but an an-ti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea, and barometers are rising generally over the Dominion.
