FAREWELLED IN THE NORTH.——The Auckland branch of the Royal Empire Society last week gave a farewell luncheon to Mr W. J. Jordan, M.P., who ieaves shortly for London to attend the League of Nations at Geneva and later to take up the duties of High Commissioner in London in succession to Sir James Parr. The guest is seated third from the left, next to the chairman, Professor F. P. Worsley. Mrs Jordan is seated to the right of the chairman.

RETURNING TO WESTERN SAMOA—Mr O. F. Nelson. leader of the Mau, sailed on Wednesday on the Maui Pomare for Western Samoa, the Government having removed the ban on his return and so ended his exile. He is seen with his three daughters— {from left) Misses Calma, Elna and Olive Nelson—who are also returning to their home in Aple.
