LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. Miss R. Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, supplies the following local observations on the weather: Barometer. Monday 29.90 Tuesday .... 29.55 Thermometer. Max. Min. Sunday 62 41 Monday 59 50 Mean Temperature, 5i.5 dog. The barometer reads 29.55 and has fahui rau’ily since last reading. Indications are for unsettled weather to-day; heavy rain; mild temperatures and westerly winds prevailing. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .22in. Rainfall for previous 24 hours, .391 n. Total rainfall for June to date, .76in. Average rainfall for June, 5.19!n. Rainfall for year to date, 26.88in. Average yearly rainfall, 46.32in. SPECIAL FORECAST. (Bv Govt. Meteorologist.) The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the Waikato* Thames Valley is as follows: Forecast: Moderate to strong south-e'asterly winds prevailing and freshening. Weather dull and misty, with further rain, some heavy falls and snow on the ranges. Temperatures cold. Seas moderate to rather rough and increasing. General inference: A rather deep and extensive depression covers the central portion of the Dominion. An intense anti-cyclone covers Australia and the western Tasman Sea.
