AUCTIONEERS’ TRIBUTE.

FAREWELL To MR L. PETTI‘I’. PRESENTATION CEREMONY. There was a large gathering of representatives or auctioneering and exporting firms at, the Toorak Hall last evening at a farewell function ‘to Mr L. Peitit, who has resigned from the stair of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company to take a position with the Farmers‘ Distributing Company, Masterton, M:- 0. Christie presided.

In presenting Mr Pettit with an inscribed clock on behalf of his Walkato friend's, Mr Christie wished the recipient a successlul future. Eulogistio references to Mr Perm, were made by Messrs J. McNieoi. E. J. Kelly. P. 'l‘. Powell. and B. Orr. representing the exporting firms, and Messrs A. R. Harding, W. J. Livingstone. B. Fearon. J. Turnwald, R. Brieeke, P. Vemoe. A. Patterson. J. Anderson and J. Ebbett. representing the stock firms.

STAFF PRIOIN‘I’ATION. LOAN AND MERCANTILE COMPANY. All members .0; the staff or the Hamilton branch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd‘, assembled yesterday for the purpose of donating a parting gift to Mr L. H. Penn and Mr R. 11. Stewart. .\lr Pettit has been auctioneer for the company in the \Valkato, for six years and has been associated with the branch for 10 years. He leaves to take up a position with another firm of stock and station agents in the Walrarapa. Mr Stewart who, for 21} years has filled the pO3!tion of produce salesman. has been promoted to the post of produce salesman at the company's Auckland branch.

The Manager. Mr A. W. Ward. made presentations on behalf of the stair. who wished them every success and happiness in their new sphere. The accountant. .\lr J. C. Tait, Mr W. B. Fearon, head of the stock department. .\lr Delaney. the company's Te Awamutu agent, Mr J. W. Ebbett, produce uanvasser and Miss I. M. Dempster en-i dorsed the manager‘s remarks and expressed regret at their departure. ‘ In acknowledgment, Mr Pettit re—‘ flectcd on his happy associations with all members 0! the still! during his‘ term here, while Mr Stewart mention-1 ed that his term of ofllce had been one‘ of the happiest periods of his life. ‘ At the same time a welcome was ex- ‘ tended to Mr F.
