LIVE STOOK PROBLEMSFRITH‘S ENCYCLOPAEDIA. The application of science to every branch of production is now regarded as essential, and in no sphere more than in. primary production. The financial and economic stability of the Dominion rests on the products of its farms. and the most important is dairy farming. For that reason the inter—ests of the dairy farmer have been given pride of place in the "Modern Farm Enoyclopaedia." compiled by Mr Sydney J. R. Frith and published by Forests, Farms and Products Ltd. Many years of preparatory work must have gone into the compilation of_the mass 0! useful information contained in this big volume, but care has been taken so to arrange the matter that there is no diillculty in finding the particulars required. \Vherever neces—sary photographs and other illustrations have been used to assist the reader. and the Volume is a valuable work of reference or a practical nature, designed to meet New Zealand conditions. The details of animals are dealt with in detail, and full information is given of the methods to be adopted in treating them. It is the aim of the book to give concise and practical directions that can be used by the average farmer in diagnosing and treating all animal troubles. The volume rnniains murh general information likely to he of service. There is a dictionary, and among other things hundreds of formulae and tables of weighls and measures, while the Stock Remedies Act, mat, is printed in full. The type used is bold, making read—ing easy, and the very complete index should prove helpful. As a work of reference the Encyclopaedla should fulfil the intention of the author, that is. “prove of signal service to the farming community.“
