How have your fingers and teen been these lan few cold days, Peter has had such a Job trylnq to keep hle warm, land the fire has been the meet weloome thlng In the world aner cemlng In out of the cold at. nlght. Smutty and Someone lle one on each slde of the hearth llke statues, and sleep and sleep hour after hour. The nlghte have been lovely and crlsp though, wlth brlght moonllght and lots of twlnkllng llttle stare aprlnkled about on the deep, deep, blue of the sky and Peter le sure the falrles are about In dozens playlng pranks wlth Jack Frost as he filngs hls ohllly thte brush about. Dld you ever hear the story of the Ilttle Blue Falry who thought she would play a prank on Jack Frost and of what happened to her? It Is one of the thns' favourltes for when they are safe and warm round the fire in the evenInga.

Once upon a tlme there was a llttle Falry called Blue because of her blue, blue, frock and her blue, blue, eyes. And It so happened that she was a. very mlschlevoue llttle frollo who always had her llttle plnk fllnoer In some prank or other. And one day when she had exhausted nearly all the thlnos she could find to do, she thought she would play a prank on Jack Frost, so she hopped upon the brlm of hls wlde, whlte hat where she looked Ilke a llttle blue flower In her frllly frock, and went along wlth hlm In search of adventure. Jack Frost that day was teellnq very full of llfe so he danced along In hops and steps and as he was In the mldst of the largest leap of all, he trlpped, and woe betlde llttle Falry Blue, she went over the brlm of hls hat Into the bucket of frost he oarrled! And of course because he dld not know she had been on hls hat brlm Jack Frost dld not see her fall lnto the bucket or hear her tlnkly orles for help and so she grew colder and colder and the blue began to fade from her frock. It faded and faded untll It was a snowy whlte and when at last llttle Falry Used-to-be-Blue thought she could llve no longer, Jack Frost dlpped hls brush Into hls pall and plcked her up on It. She fell on some pretty leaves and she was so frozen that there she stayed until some mortals who passed saw her and llttle dreamlng she was a falry orled “Look at thle darllng llttle Ice flower." And after a llttle the sun came out and warmed her agaln but her blu'e frock stlll rsmalned whlte and she grew to love the pretty llttle leaves so much that she made her home there and now she has another name, she ls called the lee Flower 'Falry and she Is as good as gold, and only once In a whlle plays a prank on anyone.

Beautyeeokers are gettlng very scar-co these days when there are so few flowers In our gardens so Peter thlnke we wlll leave them tlll Spring comes again and gives you lots to write about. He does hope you wlll Ilke our oompetltlon this week, It Is such a useful one.
