Puss Moth Considered Likely to Improve

The open sprint, the President’s Handicap, is the second leg of the double and provides ample scope for selection. The top-weight Rereatu is now in a position in the handicap where he will have to give of his very best to carry the day, but his convincing success at the last Takapuna meeting

Galilee was a winner at Ellerslie recently but will find her task harder here with the steadier of 8.12. With the defection of Boughal, Te Rapa stables will have to rely on Star Artist and Adalene, and at the weights the latter possesses more than an outside chance. In the final gallops Yesterday she demonstrated that she is in excellent fettle and she should certainly account for more than beat her. Puss Moth should be striking his best form by now and his good second to Rereatu on the second day of the Takapuna meeting bears out this contention. He is meeting Rereatu on better terms here and should hold him safe. Gipsy Moth will be coupled on the machines with him. The recent form of Star Artist has been disappointing but taking a' line through her track work over the past week she appears to be coming right again. Tin Lap and Prince Ven are possibilities arid the best of the others would appear to be Bellkyrian.
