CAMBRIDGE BAND.
NEW UNIFORMS NEEDED. APATHY OF PUBLIC ALLEGED. (Special to Times.> CAMBRIDGE, Friday. The feeling of members of the Cambridge Municipal Band that their services are not appreciated by the public was expressed at a special meeting of the band on Wednesday evening. The chairman of the committee, Mr B. K. Bishop, presided. It was stated that the band had only 12 uniforms, eight others being hired from Hamilton at 10s a week. The uniforms were considered unfit to wear and it was -stated that members were not inclined to attend practices for the South Auckland contest at Hamilton.
Mr W. White expressed the opinion that the whole trouble was the apathy of the Cambridge Borough Council. When the band had money it was spent in purchasing assets which were now vested in the council. At one time the band had received a subsidy of £7O per annum.
It was decided to -send a deputation to wait on the council requesting further financial assistance. The future of the band will be affected considerably by the result of the deputation. Messrs C. Kelly, W. White, B. H. Bishop and R. Simpson were appointed to wait on the council.
