ROMNEY RAM FAIR. RULING RATES REALISED. LARGE ENTRY OFFERED. The persistent inquiry shown right through the sale was the feature of the annual Hamilton ram fair which was held at the selling pavilion, Claudelands Showgrounds, yesterday. A large bench of buyers operated freely at rates current at other centres. Flock rams ranged in price from 4 io 12gns, while one outstanding entry hi the stud ram offering sold under animated competition at 25gns, the best sale of the day. T’he auctioneers in conjunction were the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Messrs Dal~ gety and Company, Ltd., and the Farm - ers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd. Competition was eager throughout the morning sales and a good market was maintained during the afternoon. A total of I'2oo rams was catalogued, comprising annual drafts from prominent Waikato breeders. Some ideal specimens of -the Romney breed were paraded for buyers’ inspection and bidding was brisk on all superior entries. The satisfactory figure of 25gns was obtained for an outstanding stud ram from Messrs F. R. Seddon and Son, the buyers being Messrs CoryWright Bros., of Coromandel. The same vendors sold other entries in the stud offering at prices ranging from 8 to 14gns. The top price for flock rams was 12gns., and this was obtained by two attractive rams from the line of Messrs Blair and Hunter, of Maxwell, Mr R. Paulsen, of Glen Murray, being the final bidder. The same vendors sold other rams ranging from 54 lo llgns. The top price of 12gns was also given for two i-shear rams from the splendid line of Messrs F. R. Seddon and Son. Keen competition marked the sale of this draft, prices from 7 to llgns being readily obtained. The draft of Mr Ulath Johnstone, of Frankton, also received keen attention, entries in this line selling from Signs to 9|gns. Mr R. J. Law was another vendor to receive excellent values, obtaining from 54 to lOgns. A line of ewes from Mr J. A. Court, of Fenoourt, were cleared from 11 lo Signs. Range of Values. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report as follows on their annual sale of Romney rams held at Claudelands yesterday:— A good proportion of our catalogued rams were good class sheep. Many entered, however, were not ideal from the breeders’ viewpoint and consequently there was a wide difference between second-rate sheep and those of attractive type. The bench of buyers included representative graziers I from many distant parts and wide distribution was made. Generally speaking, a very successful sale was effected, most of the vendors of ordinary rams selling at the bids forthcoming. We quote:—On account of Messrs F. R. Seddon and Sons, 2 to Mr A.
