Mr Noel Bayley, of Dunedin, is visiting Hamilton. Mr G. N. Bickeridge, of London, is at the Hotel Midland. Mr L. Hodgson, of Sydney, is visiting Hamilton. Messrs F. Burke (Auckland), J. E. Histed (Palmerston North), G. C. Wilson (Wellington) and G. W. Ward (Te Kuiti) are at the Hotel Midland. Professor A. P. W. Thomas has been made a life member of the Auckland Institute and Museum, with which lie has been associated for many years. Mr N. S. Falla, managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, has been elected chairman of directors of the company in succession to the late Sir James Mills. Canon S. Cooper, of Buckinghamshire, England, who has been on a visit to his son at Kerikeri, will leave for England by the Mataroa from Wellington on February 29. A cable message from London states that the improvement in the condition of Earl Beatty has been maintained, and his progress continues. Mr Neil S. Walker, of Auckland, passenger representative of the Oceanic Steamship Company (Matson Line), has been transferred to Sydney. He will leave Auckland by tne Mariposa to-morrow. Mr C. J. Tunks, Auckland District Commissioner of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, the assistant commissioner, Mr F. J. Hutchinson, and the secretary of the Auckland centre of the St. John Ambulance Association, Mr S. E. Lang-stone, are visiting Hamilton. Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Bon-ham-Carter director-general of the British Territorial Army, has been appointed Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Malta, in succession to General Sir David Campbell, who has been permitted to relinquish his post for health reasons. At a meeting of the New Plymouth Aero Club a letter was received from Lady Mary Kingsford Smith conveying her thanks to the members of the ciub for their expressions of sympathy to her in llie death of her husband. Mr W. Gray Young, of Wellington, was re-elected president of the New Zealand Institute of Architects at the annual conference of the institute in Auckland yesterday. Mr W. J. McKeon and Mr S. W. Fearn, both of Wellington, were elected members of the executive committee. Mr Frank Goldberg, governing director of the Goldberg Advertising Agency, Limifed, Australia and New Zealand, who is on a visit to his New Zealand organisation, convened a special meeting of his executive staff in Weliingion recently. At this meeting Mr K. G- Kearney, Wellington manager. .Mr 11. B. Riggs, secretary, Mr I. ’l’. Mills, Auckland manager, and Mr S. J. Wearn, Christchurch manager, were appointed to the directorate. Mr K. G. Kearney was also appointed to the position of acting-general manager of the New Zealand company.
