Lovers of musio will welcome the announcement that the SplvakovskyKurtz trio —Tossy Spivakovsky (violinist), Jascha Spivakovsky (pianist.) and Edmund Kurtz (’cellist) —will give a series of concerts In the principal New Zealand towns, commencing at Wellington on January 20. It Is hoped that Hamilton will be Included In the Itinerary. These artists made a very successful oonoert tour of New Zealand in 1933, oreating a profound impression with the unanimity and verve qf their ensemble playing in addition to their brilliance as soloists. They have recently been attaohed to the Melbourne University Conservatorium of Musio, conducting the master classes in their respective spheres. The programmes to be presented will include tries tyy Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Ravel, and new solo items by each player. The tour is under the direction of Mr D. D. O’Connor. Hugo Larsen In London. Hugo Larsen, who brought us several outstanding musicians, including Peter Dawson and Horace Stevens (singers), Szigeti (violinist), and Pouishnoff (pianist), sends greetings from London. ■He has been presenting the New London Orchestra, under the conductorship of John Bickers, with Samuel Kutcher as prinolpal violin. Mr Larsen is now conducting a tour of the West Indies by Bruce Wendell (a West Indian pianist) and Ekaterina Zorina (dramatio soprano). Moiseiwltsch In London.
