A QUEENSLAND ACT. EXEMPTION FROM IMPRISONMENT. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. i (Received Dec. 21, 11.45 a.m.) BRISBANE, Dec. 21. The Royal Assent has been given to the Maintenance and Alimony Relief Act, which provides that persons serving terms of imprisonment for failure to pay alimony or maintenance have the right to apply to the court for exemption from their imprisonment.
The Attorney-General, Mr John Mullan, said an applicant, to obtain the benefit of the act, must satisfy the court that Inability to make payments was not through his own fault.
