TE RORE NOTES.
SUCCESSFUL CONCERT. In spite of the inclement weather there was a large attendance of parents and friends at the Hall on Thursday evening, when a concert was given by the pupils to mark the close of the school year. Mr G. Finn, -chairman of the school •committee, congratulated Mr Guest, the teacher, upon the high quality of the work done by the pupils, both on the stage and in the schoolroom. Talent was revealed toy (he children as each one took part In various items. Mr Finn also referred to the beautiful gardens and grounds, which were a great credit to the teacher, who had in the first place been responsible by raising money by means of a floral fete and thus being able to carry out the good work with the -help of the parents. The -chairman, in presenting the prize books to each -child, called on Peggy McKinnon, Henry Beil and Allan Coxhead, eacli to receive a certificate for good attendance, and Dick Finn, who had gained-his proficiency certificate. The following items were contributed by the pupils: Play, the Day family; songs, “ Lullaby,” “‘The Blacksmith,” “Robin Hood”: nursery rhymes, Beryl Rice, Eric Coxhead, Dawn Bell; elocution, a Christmas pudding; play, “Belling the Cat.”
