LEMON LORE.
A BENEFICIAL FRUIT. The lemon is one of the most beneficial fruits grown, and its uses are many and varied. Did you know, for instance, that a few drops of lempn juice will mitigate the pain of a bee sting? Also that the pulp of a lemon rubbed on the scalp helps to prevent the hair from falling out? , If your gums require toning up, rub them with a piece of lemon. Tartar may be removed from the teeth in the same way. Use lemon instead of soap when washing your hands. It whitens as well as softens them. To check' an impending cold take some of the juice boiled, just prior to retiring to bed. When cleaning brass, wash thoroughly with hot, soapy water, dry well, then rub with a section of lemon. A bilious headache may be cured by taking the juice, unsweatened, before breakfast. r Add a little to tinned fruit to improve the flavour. Always heat a lemon before using and you will get twice the quantity of juice from it. If when using a lemon you only require half of it, put the remaining haiiTon a plate, and cover with a tumibler. This excludes the air and prevents the lemon from drying up. An eminent London doctor writes: “Its uses are manifold, and the more we employ it externally the better we shall find ourselves.”
