BURNED BY SAND.
ACCIDENT IN FOUNDRY. EX-ALL BLACK INJURED. (Hy Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. While working in the foundry Into on Tuesday afternoon, Mr W. .T. Wallace, one of the principals of the linn of Johns and Wallace, was badly burned by red hot ■sand. While taking a door off the furnace, the chain of a plate broke. Mr Wallace was stooping under the furnace, to adjust the chain when a quantity of red hot sand descended on him, badly burning him on the back • of tiie neck and about the ears, shoul- j ,|ors and hands. lie was conveyed ! home and received medical attention, j Though swathed in bandages he is now making satisfactory progress towards recovery. Mr Wallace is a well-known tlguro in the rugby football world and was a member of the original All Blacks who toured Britain in IPOb.
