LOCAL' OBSERVATIONS. Miss R. Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, supplies the following local observations on the weather; Barometer, Thursday 29.90 Friday 29.75 Thermometer. L [ Max. Min. Wednesday 72 64 Thursday 68 62 Mean Temperature, 65 deg. The barometer reads 29.75 and has very little movement. Indications are for Improved weather conditions to-day; scattered showers; seasonable temperatures; _ northwesterly winds prevailing. The Rainfall.
Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .351 n. Rainfall for previous 24 hours, .57in. Total rainfall for December to date, 1.27 in.
Average rainfall for December, 3.381 n. Rainfall for year to date, 51.061 n. Yearly average, 46.32 in.
SOUTH AUCKLAND AREA. ( By Govt. Meteorologist.) The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WaikatoThames Valley Is as follows: Forecast: Winds between north-west and west, prevailing, light to moderate mainly but squally at times .weather still rather unsettled with some further showers but 1 later improving temporarily. * Temperatures moderate. Seas moderate. ‘ General Inference: Pressure is rather high over the South Island, but still rather low over the north. Further depressions are approaching the Tasman Sea. •
