SUNDAY SCHOOL TEA.
HAMILTON EAST FUNCTION. The* annual children’s tea and prizegiving of the Hamilton East Anglican Sunday School took place in the haV. Nixon Street, on Tuesday evening. Later in the evening a number of parents and friends joined the assembly to witness presentation of prizes. The superintendent, Mrs Ritchie, welcomed the visitors and called upon Mrs T. P. Weatherhog to present the prizes, each scholar receiving a gift according to attendance. After the prize-giving, Mr E. J. Roche, senior, teacher, in appropriate terms referred to the resignation of Mrs Ritchie, who had been superintendent for many years, and had rendered most valuable services to the Sunday School. He expressed the great regret of everyone that she was unable to continue, and spoke highly of the good work accomplished by her. On behalf of the parents, teachers and children he handed Mrs Ritchie a suitable gift as a token of their affection and regard. Mrs Ritchie suitably acknowledged the gift. She expressed her regret at being unable to continue as superintendent, but said she would not lose interest in the Sunday School. The rest of the evening was occupied with singing, recitations, and a “Play" by several if the scholars which caused a good deal of amusement.
