TE KAWA NOTES.

BREAKING-UP CEREMONIES. The Te Kawa Sunday School held its breaking-up -ceremony on Saturday afternoon, when a concert and tea party were held, there being a full attendance. Items were given by the Sunday School scholars, and the pupils of Miss Mae McLean contributed dances, which were much enjoyed, to the programme. Rev. Alan Whitelaw, of Te Awamutu, presented the prizes won during the year, and presentations were also made to Miss Phyllis McLean, who has been superintendent of the school, throughout the year, and to Miss Ruth -Henderson. Miss McLean will leave the district shortly to -take up nursing.

Te Kawa West School was the scene of Christmas -celebrations on Wednesday, when Miss Skudder had made elaborate preparations for her pupils and their parents. A beautifully decorated Christmas tree was the central attraction and gifts were distributed from the tree -by a Christmas fairy. Songs and elocution were given by the pupils and afternoon tea was served to parents and visitors.

A party of local residents visited the home of Mrs J. Marston, Te Awamutu, on Wednesday evening, when games and competitions were much enjoyed. -Mrs Marston was formerly Miss Joyce Burton, of Te Kawa.
