Masked bandits fired on a car driven by Mr Francis O'Connor, a bookmaker, after he escaped an attempted holdup. The bullets pierced the door and lodged in the seat upholstery, close to Aubrey Parkinson, a jockey, who was travelling with O’Connor. An hour later O’Connor's Hotel was rung up, and a voice said: “Tell O'Connor he was lucky to-night. He will not be so lucky next time.” This is the second occasion O’Connor has foiled hold-up men, he was wounded last lime.
