HAVOC IN HARBOUR. SMALL CRAFT SUFFER. STRONG GALE AT AUCKLAND. (By Toloyrnnh—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. Havoc was caused among pleasure craft on the Auckland Harbour by a north-easterly gale early yesterday morning, followed by boisterous conditions and heavy seas later in the day. Several yachts and launches were swept from their moorings and damaged extensively when they ran ashore. The steamer Apanui, which belongs to the Northern Steamship Company, Limited, and which has been laid up for some years, broke from tier anchorage in Shoal Bay and drifted across the harbour, running aground on the Ponsonby foreshore. The rainfall for 21 hours was -79 in.
