Real Evolution “ The only real evolution which can and does take place in the world is the conscious evolution oC the individual. It has been truly said that the world cannot be regenerated by any of the old panaceas,” said Mr A. E. Dean, in a speech reported in the Cost Accountant. “It can only he accomplished by the universal development of that eternal spirit which expresses itself in the highest form of service —that which is given without any thought or expectation of recompense or reward. Love is the Divine element, and service the human expression of that divine element, and if we love in the full and complete sense we must serve, and it is by this service that we are led to find the truth which makes us free and brings with it a realisation of the true purpose of life and a vision which gives us a new and comprehensive world view.”
Two Kinds of Morality Mr 11. B. Lees-Smith, the former British Postmaster-General, in a reference to the Abyssinian dispute, at a recent meeting, said: i* The present diflicully is that the standard of international morality is lower than the standard of domestic morality within a country itself. The reason is, that within each country there is a law with the means of enforcing it. whereas in international affairs there is onlv anarchy. The next step in moral evolution, therefore, is the establishment of international law with sanctions that will enforce it. That is what the League of Nations does, and if we now desert it we shall revert to the method of the jungle from which we have taken the first step to emerga"
