CHILLED CARCASES.
SUMMER SHOW CLASSES. COMMENTS OF GRADERS. SUITABLE FOR EXPORT. The grader’s comments on the special chilled beef classes at the Waikato Summer Show and the carcase weights of the entries are now. available. The cattle produced carcases suitable for chilling in the majority of cases, although there was a tendency for some of the carcases to be overl'at. Following were the weights of entries in the chilled heifer class:— Messrs Main Brothers’ entry, Ist. at show, 7121 b; Mr H. J. Finlayson’s entries, 6381 b and 6401 b; Air H. Windsor’s entries, 5201 b and 5461 b; Mr D. E. Finlayson’s entries, 8181 b and 7421 b It will be seen from the above weights that most of the carcases were over the stipulated weights. In his report the grader stated that all of the heifers were of good type and of nice finish, whilo the colour was good. Three of the entries were showing too much fat to be suitable for the trade. DISTRICT GROUP CLASSES. Following were the weights of the entries in the district group classes:— Pukctaha. first at show, 8341 b, 8121 b, 79611), 7551 b, or an average of 7991 b. Tamaherc: 640ib, 6421 b, 6411 b, 6761 b, or an average of 6491 b. Alorrinsville: 6221 b, 0881 b, 7451 b, 7241 b, or an average of 7041 b. Alalainata: 7411 b, 6981 b, 6721 b, 7321 b, or an average of 7111 b. To Puke: 7801 b, 7381 b, 8001 b, 7551 b, or an average of 7681 b. In the grader’s opinion all of the cattle were of nice type and of satisfactory finish, although several of the enlries were carrying a little too much fat. The beef was very bright but in some cases entries were on the heavy side. The grader considered that tiie Te Puke group was the best of the groups with Alorrinsville next in order or superiority. As all the entries are to be judged again in London the comments of the English authorities are being awaited with keen interest.
