COUNTS COMPLETED. DISTRIBUTION OF VOTES. Onicial counts have now been completed in all electorates, states the Evening Post, and although the totals credited to the various candidates have been altered considerably only in one case has a preliminary result been altered. This is in the case of Manawalun where the checking of votes disclosed an error of approximately ' 100 votes. Valid votes cast totalled 851,723, and these wore distributed among the parties as follows: — 'Labour (53 seals) .. 38!).912 Nationalist (19 seals) 280,207 Democrats (unseats) 61,518 Communists (no seats) 620 Others (8 seats) .. 110,106 The “olhers” include Independents, Country Party, Ralana, and Independent Country Parly. Of tho 203 candidates who went to the polls 7 l failed to record more than one-fourth of the votes recorded by the winning candidate, and thus forfeited their deposit, of DlO. The. 'l’reasury benefits to the extent of D7IO. Thirty-two out of the 31 Democrats who stood failed to save their deposits.
