LIFE-SAVING WORK.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —The public are greatly indebted to the public-spirited citizen who donated the boxes and lines for use of life-saving on the river. It is a puzzle to me that need for action ;n that direction had not been recognised by the council years ago. A body named the Hamilton Life-Saving Club lias been formed, and deserves support. As soon as tills body Is functioning properly and has a sufficient working membership the lake and river will be patrolled within reason. The club is badly in need of a reel, and has not the funds with which to buy it. Surely a town the _ size of Hamilton has enough public-minded citizens willing to further this cause by making donations. I believe a reel in full working order costs about £lO. I am willing to give what I can, and the chib’s president would willingly direct donations to the proper channels. It is a worthy cause. —I am, etc., A SUPPORTER. Hamilton, December 12.
