VALUES FOR HORSES.
SALE AT CLAUDELANDS. GOOD QUALITY SELLS WELL. A fair bench of buyers was in attendance at a horse fair conducted by Messrs Vercoe and Company, Ltd., at the Glaudelands Showgrounds yesterday. The demand was keen for superior quality consignments, but competition was dull for poorer sorts, several entries in an average offering failing to reach the vendors’ reserve. The top price of the sale, £47, was paid for an aged grey mare offered on account of Mr F. E. Henry, of To Alcan, while the next best figure, £4G :10s, was realised for a bay mare. Air J. D Douglas, of Puketaha, sold a six-vear-ohl bay marc at £39 and Air C. Shaw traded an aged chestnut mare aL £36.
Light farm horses ranged in price from £ls to £27 10s, aged horses from £lO to £22 10s, and backs to £9.
