Dangerous Use of Petrol.—The danger arising from using petrol for household purposes was referred to by Superintendent J. J. Salmon, of I lie Dunedin City Fire Brigade in his report to the Metropolitan Fire Board. The superintendent reported that a woman had received burns about the hands and arms when petrol she was using to wash some clolhing ignited. lie stressed the fact that the practice of using pelrol in such manner was very dangerous. Tile superintendent pointed out that the petrol should lie used in the open air, and in no circumstances should it lie used near a lire or light. There had been one dealli and several eases of severe burning in Dunedin during recent years through this dangerous practice. The chairman of Die hoard (Mr S. B. Macdonald) said il was very necessary for people (o know |he danger arising from using petrol in the manner referred to by ilie brigade superintendent. II did not appear that must people realised !hc danger.
