CABLE FROM NEW ZEALAND JUDGE’S STRONG COMMENT. ALLEGED CONTEMPT OF COURT United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received Aug. 26, 3 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 26. When the sale of the Trust Building was mentioned In the Equity Court to-day, Mr Justice Long-lnnes read what he described as a “ most extraordinary cablegram ” which he had received from New Zealand. The cablegram read: “Regarding the application concerning the Trust Building, formerly the property of the McArthur Companies, the New Zealand debenture-hold-ers desire an opportunity to be heard. They are against the sale at a low valuation. —Richmond, counsel for the New Zealand de-benture-holders’ committee. His Honour said that if Mr Richmond were a barrister and had Signed the cable he had been guilty of gross Impropriety in addressing a Judge on matters of this sort. Mr Lovat, who said he appeared for the McArthur Trust and had received no instructions from New Zealand, Elated that lie understood that the New Zealand debenture-holders’ committee liepresented several thousand .people. He understood that they intended opposing the sale of the building. Alleged Improper Way. His Honour: “This is an improper way of opposing it. It is, of course, contempt of Court, I cannot do anything to them, as they are out of my jurisdiction.” His Honour expressed the opinion that Hie New' Zealand debentureholders .should brief counsel. ' On account of the illness of Mr Teece, K.G., who is representing the fHiblic Trust, the hearing was adjourned for a week.
