PUBLIC SERVICE.
POST OF COMMISSIONER. SUCCESSOR TO MR VERSCIIAFFELT (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. The replacement of the Public Service Commissioner, Mr P. D. N. Verschaffelt, "who resigned from that office recently, will shortly be considered by the Government and it Is possible that more than one man will be selected, and that a small commission will be established to carry on the work previously handled by' the commissioner himself. The Prime Minister, Mr Forbes, said last night that the Government had not discussed the position since his return from England, but that the replacement of Mr Verschaffelt would have to be considered soon. Mr Forbes also said the appointment of an administrator of Samoa to succ.ecd Sir Herbert Hart had not yet been considered by Cabinet. The matter was not urgent, however, as Hie position of administrator was being capably (Hied in tlie meantime by Mr A. C. Turnbull, formerly secretary to the administration.
