f OFFICIAL OFFICE TRIPPED. (From a Correspondent.) r LONDON, June 30. The Soiuth American Republics of Uruguay and Paraguay may sometimes be confused in the mind of the man in. the street, but it is strange to And the Foreign Office tripping'-. •It was olllcially stated yesterday (hat the appointment, mentioned on Friday, of Sir Nevile Henderson as Minister to Uruguay should have been hi-s appointment as Minister to Paraguay.
The correcting announcement read: “It was announced by a clerical error that Sir Nevile Meyrick Henderson, K.C.M.G., His Majesty’s AmbassadorDesignate to the Argentine Republic, has also been appointed llis Majesty’s Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Urugiury. “The announcement should have been as follows: “ ‘The King has been graciously pleased to approve the appointment of Sir Nevile Meyrick Henderson, K.C.M.G., llis Majesty’s Am-bassador-Designate lo the Argentine Republic, to be also His ‘Majesty’s Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Paraguay.’ ” Uruguay and Paraguay are both sma'ler South American republics bordering on the northern part of the Argentine. Tlie.re is a British Minis- j ter to Uruguay, but the British Diplo- j matic Representative on the spot in Paraguay is a Consul, who is also , Charge d’Afl'aires.
