ATTACK ON HITLER
WORST CRIME IN GERMANY. A list of fresh penal offences to he incorporated in the Legal Code now being prepared has been announced by Iterr Schafer, of the German Ministry of Justice. New offences introduced for the further protection of the State arc: -Calumniation of the people; disparagement of German history; bringing into contempt of the historical figures revered as incorporating German ideals; malicious attempts to diminish the glory of deeds performed by t lie German army or German soldiers; attacks on marriage and the family; and malicious disposal of family properly. Special provisions have 'been made for ttio protection of the prestige ot the Nazi movement. The assassination or attempted assassination of the Loader is in a category by itself as the most serious crime which any licrman can commit. Recently heavy penalties have been passed under the existing law for Hie protection of the Nazi regime:— A girl student of Essen was sentenced to live months’ imprisonment for “calumniation of the. Leader" in a j cafe. A 17-year-old apprentice of Frankfort was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for remarks about the Reichstag fire and "insults directed against the Hiller Youth movement." A youth of Wiesbaden received four months’ Imprisonment for ironical remarks -atrout- a portrait of Herr Hitler. “The Order of Hruids” as a result of pressure ny tup government declared ilself dissolved in Germany on the ground that the "State must demand the union of all Germans for the. work of reconstruction, and this can ! only be hampered by the existence ol small groups of citizens. Semi-official comment on this decision indicates that similar action may
shortly be expected on the part of lhe few remaining Masonic lodges.
